cArte Museum
Before the end of the 15th century in the Dominante – as the capital of the Venetian state was called – between 150 and 200 presses were active, printing 15% of the titles printed in the whole of Europe in that period (4,500 out of 30,000), with ranging from one hundred to two thousand copies. The percentage will be destined to rise to almost half of the European stocks.
cArte | Expandend Museum of Paper and Print of Venice is a thematic museum itinerary made up of five artistic workshops linked to the world of paper and printing in the lagoon city.
Each workshop constitutes a hub of the museum: the visitor can enter these places and discover techniques, materials, machinery, buy objects and works created here. Eeach specific craft communicates its uniqueness by telling tourists a part of the history of Venice to discover even little-known places in Venice.
